Pumpkins and Prayer Partners

Today we helped our prayer partners decorate pumpkins.  I enjoyed watching the students work together.  I have been very impressed with how well the 6th grade students work with younger students.  I am thankful that the is a skill that is fostered at St. Mary School.  Here is a sneak peek at the fun they had!

Cookie Mining

Yesterday as a wrap up to our unit on minerals we used cookies to explore the economics of mining.
Carefully removing the topsoil, and vegetation before mining for chocolate chips.

Carefully mining.  The tools are expensive to replace.

Complete focus.

My miners are all hard at work.

They could purchase up to 5 minutes to mine.
They understood the value of those 5 minutes.

Will the extra money be worth the investment?

Why are cells so small?
Teamwork!
I love to watch them figure things out together.  Collaboration!

Diffusion.

"Can we use real knives?"

Success!  Everyone is on task, and actively engaged in learning.
